April
2007
Spring at AU is always special. The cherry blossoms, student elections, sports teams, new crop of graduates finishing their degrees, and throngs of visiting parents and potential students all make it an exciting time.
This spring, we have two students who have been named Truman Scholars; AU junior Josh Glenn won the NCAA National Wrestling Championships; and the Admissions office just sent out acceptance letters to a potential freshmen class that represents the highest SAT scores and grade point averages of any previously admitted class.
What’s it all mean for us as alumni? The short answer is that if I were applying to AU today, I’m not sure I’d get in! The longer answer is that the caliber of students at AU now, and those being admitted to the class of 2011, are going to make our alma mater that much more prestigious. The value of our degrees will continue to increase and the reputation of our university will continue to grow. As alumni, we should be more proud of our university than ever. That’s enough reason to “stand up and be counted” and give to AU this year. I hope we can count on your support before the fiscal year ends in just a few weeks - on April 30, 2007. Just click on Artemus Ward below...
I also hope you’ll consider taking some time to reconnect with AU. The Alumni Board is spearheading a number of efforts to help you reconnect and give back. Drop me an e-mail and let’s find a way for you to get involved that matches your interests.
Sincerely,
Brian F. Keane, SPA/BA '89
