April 2008
I need to talk you about something important.
Our alma mater has just kicked off a Strategic Planning process to help create a road map for AU’s next decade, and the university is taking great lengths to make sure all of AU’s constituents are heard. We alumni are a key constituency.
As president of our Alumni Association, I’ve been asked by President Kerwin to bring your ideas back to the Strategic Plan Steering Committee for discussion. So, I need to hear from you. I need you to submit your ideas, and I want to hear how you think AU can -- and should -- grow in the next 10 years.
I have arranged several ways for you to weigh in:
- I’ve created a new group on inCircle called “Strategic Planning.” Please log on today and share your ideas.
- AU will be holding a “town hall” meeting on April 28 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the McDowell Formal Lounge. I’ll be there, and I hope you’ll join me.
- I'll be hosting several online chats: on Monday, April 28 from 7:30-8:30 p.m.; Tuesday, May 6 from 12:00-1:00 p.m.; and Thursday, May 15 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Please look for an e-mail from the AU Alumni Association in the next few days with instructions on how to participate.
- As always, feel free to e-mail me directly at bkeane@alum.american.edu.
We’ve been given this wonderful opportunity to speak up and share our vision for AU’s next generation, so please, help me make sure we do our part. I look forward to hearing your great ideas in the coming weeks.
Sincerely,
Brian F. Keane, SPA-SOC/BA '89
P.S. A huge congratulations to Men’s Basketball for making AU history by making it to the NCAA’s! Note to self: Include getting to the Final Four in ’09 in the Strategic Plan… |
