Discover the Hidden Side of Ellis Island

Have you ever been to Ellis Island? Take part in an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour with AU professor Alan Kraut.

Saturday, September 20
8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (lunch included)

Cruise to Ellis Island leaves from Battery Park
New York City

Join us for a unique look at Ellis Island and follow an immigrant’s path through the Port of New York. Start with a guided tour of the Registry Hall, visit the Board of Special Inquiry Hearing Room to “decide an immigrant’s fate” in an interactive program, and explore several unrestored buildings currently closed to the public.

Special guest speaker Alan Kraut, an AU professor and expert in U.S. immigration and history, will discuss how public health and law determined an immigrant’s future.

After the program, you can explore the American Family Immigration History Center and visit the more than 12 million passenger records of people who entered through Ellis Island between 1892-1924, or search for your own ancestors.

$75.00 per person includes round-trip cruise, lunch, and snack.

Tours are approximately one hour in length and a total of two miles of walking on sometimes uneven ground.  Hard hat provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Must be 18 to attend.

Space is limited. RSVP online by September 16.
