Housing & Dining Programs Staff Awards Nomination

 

Housing and Dining Programs will be holding a summer staff appreciation banquet on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, to express our gratitude to our staff for all of their hard work.  During the banquet, several awards will be presented.  These awards seek to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals to American University's summer operations.

Below is a list of the awards and relevant criteria, along with a nomination form.  All submissions but be completed by 5:00pm on April 10, 2009.

Professional Staff Member of the Year
  This recipient is a full-time staff member employed by Housing & Dining Programs who has performed at the highest level to achieve the department’s mission. This staff member has worked to develop inclusive, student-centered residential communities, enhanced the academic experience of resident students, and/or provided services that support the greater university community. This individual represents a dedication to higher education and has performed as a leader within the department over the previous summer and academic year.
 
Friend of Housing & Dining Programs
  This recipient may be any student or staff member not employed by Housing & Dining Programs. This recipient is someone who has gone above and beyond to help Housing and Dining Programs serve the AU community and promote student-centered learning environments. This person has a genuine desire to help all students, faculty, staff, and guests, and has had successful experiences in his/her interactions with the AU community, and Housing and Dining Programs.
 
Outstanding Senior Award
  This 2009 graduate has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help serve the greater good of Housing and Dining Programs during their time of involvement. This student is someone who has demonstrated a genuine concern for the students in our residence halls and Housing and Dining Programs. This recipient should be someone who has made significant contributions to Housing and Dining Programs across a number of areas.
 
Team of the Year
  This group of students has clearly emerged as a team across the course of the year. They understand each other's strengths and have integrated and accomplished both group goals and individual goals. The group role models cohesion, integrity, enthusiasm, and dedication at all times. Through collaborative efforts, the group is able to problem-solve, reach out to fellow students, and make a difference in the halls.
 
RA of the Year
  This Resident Assistant has embodied the mission of Residential Education. The Resident Assistant of the year has gone above and beyond the call of duty through the creation of intentional learning environments where holistic student success is achieved. The individual has demonstrated a well rounded approach to the position, a balance between personal and professional responsibilities, and a commitment to academics. In addition, they consistently support fellow staff members and portray a positive approach to others through community development and role modeling. The RA of the year displays the values of American University by putting ideas into action and action
into service.
 
Student Staff of the Year
  This student recipient demonstrates honorable character and accomplishment in the area of serving students, parents, and outside guests of American University. The recipient frequently goes above and beyond the expectations of the position. Other staff members call upon this student for assistance in a variety of situations. The student consistently displays dedication to the position and Housing & Dining Programs as a whole.
 
Housing and Dining Programs Impact Award
  This award honors a person who has made a significant impact on a student or community.
