2009-2010 Room Re-Application Process

Important Room Re-Application Information

Room Re-Application is how current residence hall students select their on-campus housing for the following academic year. Any current resident who wants to live on campus must participate.
STUDENTS WHO DO NOT SELECT A SPACE DURING ROOM RE-APPLICATION BUT WHO APPLY AFTERWARDS CANNOT BE GUARANTEED ON-CAMPUS HOUSING FOR THE 2009-2010 ACADEMIC YEAR AND WILL BE PLACED ON A WAITLIST FOR FALL HOUSING.

Please read the Room Re-Application Guide carefully so that you can participate at the proper time in the process. Room Re-Application is an entirely online process for the 2009-2010 academic year, and ends on March 24, 2009 at 11:59pm.

  1. Students must obtain a required Room Re-Application permit via their my.american.edu portal. Please note, all communications regarding the Room Re-Application process will be sent to your American University student email account. Please be sure to check this email regularly so you are aware of related items from the process that may require action on your part.
  2. Once an individual has selected a space that individual may not participate in any subsequent part of the process.

  3. Students who participate in the Room Re-Application process and then cancel for any non-qualified reason will automatically be charged a non-refundable, non-transferable $500 housing charge. The deadline to withdraw from housing without additional late cancellation charges, as outlined in the Housing License Agreement, is June 1, 2009. (The $500 charge and the late cancellation charge comprise the 25% cancellation charge as noted in the Housing License Agreement.). See the Housing License Agreement for the cancellation charge schedule.
  4. Students who select a space without a roommate, or a room with a roommate who later leaves the room for any reason will be consolidated with another student.
  5. Students who select a space without a roommate will only be allowed to select open spaces in rooms with previously assigned individuals when such space is available.
  6. Current on-campus students who miss Room Re-Application are not guaranteed on-campus housing for the fall. Those who apply after March 24, 2009 at 11:59pm EST will be placed on a waitlist and assigned throughout the summer if space becomes available on either main or Tenley campus.

7. We will be hosting Two Room Re-Application Information Sessions on the following days:
