This online learning course is an introduction to the complex study of comparative politics. It is intended to provide students with a foundation in the methods used by comparativists and the subjects that form the basis of their studies. The course will explore why and how researchers compare countries—and look at the relevance of comparative politics to policy-making both domestically and internationally. To introduce students to the variety of issues explored by comparativists, the course moves from one end of the globe to the other—including topics such as the definition of the nation-state to the development of democracy to the thorny issue of terrorism. |
