This online course explores the troubled history of the United States and Vietnam from 1945 to 1973, tracing the intersection of the Cold War with anti-colonialism in Southeast Asia. Topics will include cold war politics during successive presidential administrations, the impact of war on both the U.S. and Vietnam, the rise of popular protest, and events leading to U.S. withdrawal.
