PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
In this online course, students will read and discuss classic works of American literature from Emerson, Thoreau, and Hawthorne to Emily Dickinson, Louisa May Alcott, and Robert Frost. Then, the class will meet in person in New England for the final week of the course to tour their homes and the places that inspired their work. Among other highpoints, the class will visit Salem and the House of the Seven Gables, see the graves in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, canoe down the Concord River, hike Mount Wachusett, and swim in Walden Pond. |
