Instructor: Benjamin Jensen
This online course examines some of the predictive analytical techniques employed in the U.S. intelligence community (IC). Students will learn how to assess political and military events through the lens of a practitioner. The course emphasizes experiential learning through having students work as both individual analysts and on teams developing indicators and warnings, red cell techniques, social network analysis, pattern and trend analysis, key assumption checks, and analysis of competing hypotheses (ACH). The intent is to merge theory and practice; academic research design techniques and international relations theory with pragmatic approaches to national security questions used everyday by analysts in the CIA, FBI, DIA, and across the U.S. military.
