The
new KATZEN ARTS CENTER will be a handsome building featuring
a sky-lit rotunda 90 feet in diameter and an airy, glass-enclosed
atrium, all the better to soak in the light of the outside world.
The
reality of this exciting project is thanks to a $10 million donation
by Cyrus and Myrtle Katzen and the Katzen Foundation. And within
that reality will be new features and benefits for each department.
The
performing arts department is looking forward to state of the art
classrooms and rehearsal rooms in addition to a gleaming new rehearsal
hall. Also featured will be a dance studio and a new blackbox theatre
for various performing arts programs.
The
art department is seeing its gallery space expanded, allowing room
for more professional exhibits and adequate storage space for the
valuable Katzen and Watkins art collections. There will also be
new studio space for undergraduates.
