State of the Industry
Washington, DC, is home to the US federal government—the
Congress which writes the environmental laws and the government
agencies which execute them. In between stand the environmental
consulting firms, many of which interpret the law on the ground
as companies seek advice on how to fulfill their environmental
obligations. Too, there are two local state governments and several
local county departments of environmental protection which invite
PSM students. Finally, there are the international organizations
whose policies and practices profoundly impact the environment.
A rich storehouse of personal experience and extensive knowledge
await the PSM student seeking to further his/her environmental
science education accessed through an internship
or capstone project.
