Newly implemented Homeland Security regulations place significant new restrictions on Critical Infrastructure Information, including basic information about cities, environmental hazards, transportation and energy. Meanwhile, additional state-level laws have created a quilt of conflicting rules. Unanswered questions surround what regulations concerning critical infrastructure actually are in effect, how they are enforced and how to protect the public's right to know during crises.
This May, American University's School of Communication, The Center for Public Integrity, American Library Association, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and OMBwatch bring you a three day conference examining the latest developments in Critical Infrastructure Information policy. Three days of expert panels and speakers, hands-on training and state of the art reports on the use and misuse of critical information highlight the conference agenda.
