Comment
Our Russian 1 course is really Russian 1 and 2 in one year.
Students then continue into Russian 3. It is an interactive
TV
course, with 3 other towns participating via cable TV. Most
of our students enter into the Russian program at the 7th grade
(see Smith
Middle School). We have an exchange program with a school in
Ukraine. We host students and teachers, and a group of students
and
teachers travels to Ukraine, stays with families, and attends
school. I think having an exchange of this type encourages students
to
stay in the program for the 6 year sequence, since it is mostly
11th and 12th graders who particpate in the travel portion of
the
exchange.
