Community of Scholars

Why Community of Scholars?

Community of Scholars

As a promising young leader, taking on a challenge is as much about testing yourself as it is about achieving success. Being part of the Community of Scholars is an opportunity for you to take on that challenge with students who share similar interests, to prepare yourself for the higher expectations of college, and to earn three credits that are transferrable to many academic institutions.

Community of Scholars will introduce you to the advancing field of global affairs through college-level coursework. Taught by highly regarded AU faculty, classes will be held in the mornings with time in the afternoon for studying and optional hands-on workshops. You will also take field trips to government agencies and non-profit organizations to extend your in-class learning. You will have weekly lunches with professors to allow for stimulating discussion in a more relaxed setting. You will spend time with scholar mentors-current graduate and undergraduate students in AU's School of International Service (SIS)-who will provide academic support and guidance.

SIS's programs feature eight fields of study including comparative and regional studies, global environmental politics, international communication, international development, international economic relations, international peace and conflict resolution, international politics, and U.S. foreign policy.

We are proud to extend this unique learning opportunity to you and invite you to share in the exceptional AU experience.
