ICPSR Datasets Program - Policy >

American University is a member of the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). Because of this, members of the American University community may order ICPSR data sets free of charge by filling out the order form at the Social Science Research Lab (Hurst Hall, Rm 203). In order to fill out a data request form you must have the correct dataset number and title. You must search the AU data archive to ensure that the dataset does not already exist at American University before you fill out the online request form. No requests will be processed without all requested information. It may take up to TWO WEEKS to process the request. Upon receiving the dataset, you will be informed of the availability of the data by e-mail. To check on the status of a request, please e-mail the Social Science Research Lab at assenov@american.edu.

NOTE: All datasets will be ordered and made available in their entirety. You may NOT request subsets of the dataset (e.g. only certain years or certain variables). Once the dataset is available, the Social Science Research Lab staff can guide you in subsetting the data to suit your particular needs.

The Social Science Research Lab (as well as the reserve room of the Bender Library) has ICPSR's printed resource guide which lists ICPSR holdings. This publication is received from ICPSR annually. Therefore, some recently added datasets available at ICPSR may not be listed. You may visit the ICPSR home page and check their data listings ordered By Subject or By Title, Number or Principle Investigator. The web listings are updated regularly.
