In the spirit of transparency and moving toward closure, I am informing the AU community that on March 15 the university filed its tax form 990 for FY 2006.  This is a public document accessible for anyone who seeks it.  Because of the high interest in our presidential transition and board governance improvements over the past two years, we thought it to be the responsible thing to inform you of the filing.  As a public document, this information will be used as comparative data and referenced in the months to come.  This information is used annually on tables and comparisons of college and university presidential compensation in reports and articles.  The board appreciates the ongoing commitment of the AU campus to move forward in the spirit of good governance and openness.
